Are there any reliable xbox 360 repair services aside from microsoft?

I just don’t want to have to pay $99 for something I know to be a minor problem, yet requires me to take my disc drive apart.

Your best bet is Microsoft. However, I would look online/yellowbook and try and find a company that repairs electronics. Call them up and see if they fix your issue, the price, and any damage warranty they offer in case they break the 360.
