How do you play 2 player on mario cart wii, wi-fi without player 2 being a guest?

Me and my brother like playing wi-fi together on wii and i am always player 2 and i want to have rankings and stuff. And not be a guest. Is this possible?

One of the downfalls of Mario Kart Wii’s online capabilities.

Another thing I dont like about it is how it is impossible to play a game with a friend from two different Wiis along with a random group. You can only race friends, who are not always on, so often it becomes a two-man race.
